Jim Morrison has become a real idol of rock, but also an intellectual engaged in the protest song movement, especially versus the Vietnam Fight (but not claiming any political ideas). Attracted by shamanism, he is credited with a reputation as a "cursed poet" that his untimely death in Paris, in unclear circumstances, turned into a legend, notably the founder of what is known as the Club des 27. All articles, biographies, notices and sites dedicated to Morrison emphasize his poetry. His use of hallucinogenic substances (LSD especially), his sickly alcoholism, his multiple provocations versus the puritanical American order, his Dionysian photo meticulously maintained, his texts on the edge of the unintelligible, his premature death finally (he was twenty-seven years) in the country where Baudelaire was born, Verlaine and Rimbaud have largely contributed to forge a hero of legend and to assimilate it to the "cursed poets" adepts of the "artificial paradises", in the line of Anglo-Saxon authors
