About the application:

What is it? The Mixxer apk was made by two students at Dickinson College and is designed to assist you search a language partner for a language exchange. A language partner is someone who helps you practice their native language in exchange for you helping them with yours. For example, if you’re a native English speaker learning Spanish, the Mixxer will assist you search and connect with a native Spanish speaker learning English. Once you’ve found some potential partners, you can notice them on the Mixxer suggesting days and times to meet. Most people use Skype to speak, but the choice is up to you and your partner. There are no “guidelines” for the exchange, but I would recommend practicing 30 mins in each language. The necessary thing is to be sure that each person is allowed equal time to practice. In addition to speaking, you can also post writing and keep feedback from native speakers. Finally, if you’re a native speaker of Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, French or German you’ll also keep invitations from our school and others to register to join us for an “happening”. An happening is a method of connecting Mixxer players with students in a classroom. After you make an acc on the Mixxer, you will keep periodic emails with a link to register to speak with a student at a certain day and time. Those who register then chat the instructor on Skype 10 mins before the happening. The instructor then matches each Mixxer player with one of their students for that class hour. No ads? ************************************************ True. It’s entirely gratis, there are no advertisements, and there is no paid ver. This apk was made by our students and hosted by our school. We use the apk and the site (www.language-exchanges.org) to search partners for our own students as part of their language courses. What if I’m a beginner? ************************************************ A language exchange is usually 30 mins of conversation in each language. That’s going to be beautiful tough if you’re an absolute beginner. Though it’s possible sooner than you probably think. Our students studying Japanese have their first exchange after two months of classes. To assist them, everyone writes down 25-30 conversation questions in advance. If you’re worried about keeping the conversation going, I would recommend doing the same.
